1. Active Directory
KnowHowDBweb can now be connected to the directory service from Microsoft "Active Directory" (AD).
The advantage of this function is that all users can be maintained once for different applications.
2. Templates
Templates are used to ensure that new documents can be created from already designed templates, such as minutes, memos, suggestion, etc. Any number of templates can be created, saved and authorized in any folder such as documents.
- There is a possibility to attach files in the template
- Templates are also versioned
- All formats, tables, ... can be used
3. Pictures and text "copy & paste"
Images and formatted text (RTF-text) can be copied into the clipboard for example from an Internet browser, Microsoft Word, PDF or SnagIt and inserted quickly and easily into the editor of KnowHowDBweb. This function was not possible in the prior version and in other popular web applications. Hyperlinks from the Internet are even automatically assumed. This feature is only available in hybrid mode ("Out Of Browser").
Images can be copied now also within a document with "copy & paste".
4. Styles
With styles text can be formated quick and easily. A click on a heading with the style "Heading 1" and the text is formatted with the correct font size, color and style. The following styles are available:
- Normal
- Heading 1-6
- TOC 1-6 for the table of contents
These styles can be changed as desired by the administrator and can be selected via shortcuts.
5. Editor
The editor has become even better performance.
6. Checking in and out
Files which are checked out are displayed in red. When a file is checked out and checked in at a later date, then it is possible to open the already checked out file from KnowHowDBweb. Multiple check out is possible.
7. Auto detect links in the editor
Certain combinations of text are automatically detected and converted into a hyperlink:
- Link to an e-mail address in the corresponding e-mail program open (mailto: @ hans.muster firma.ch)
- link to a website (or www.incite.ch http://www.incite.ch
- link to a file (the admin can be permitted or denied in the Web.Config)
8. Import / Export
KnowHowDBweb documents can be imported and exported in .doc format.
9. Search by document ID, AutoID and extension
Documents can be quickly through found through the document ID, Auto ID, or the extension.
10. Page Layout
- Besides the portrait, landscape mode is also available
- Different types of page breaks, such as page, column, section, ...
- Lines can be numbered
11. E-Mail Link
This function offers the possibility to copy a certain document into the clipboard and paste the link into a a-mail. If the recipient clicks on this link, the document will be open in the KnowHowDB.
12. Shortcuts
The following shortcuts are newly available:
- CTRL-F4 -> Close document
- CTRL-1 -> Heading 1, Ctrl-2 -> Heading 2, ...
- CTRL-0 -> Normal Format
- CTRL. -> Insert Date short
- CTRL -> Insert Date long
- CTLR-Space -> paste the clipboard (images and formatted text)
13. Web.Config
The font and size can be determined in the Web.config.xml from a blank document.
